NEWS
My first week in LA
Sunday, 16 January 2005

I have finally managed to move to the US for my new employment. Its with an LA based company called Genuine Games, this is their second title - they made Fight Club for the PS2 and XBOX.  I have only had one day at work, but from what I can see, it looks like I will be working on a really interesting game - stay tuned for more detail. The interesting thing is that I will be working for the first time in my life with a PS2 development environment, so I am pretty excited about that.

Macedonian site section NOW ONLINE!
Sunday, 16 January 2005

After a lot of copy/paste (the weapon of choice of every programmer) - and a lot of testing (unfortunately, not the weapon of choice of many programmers), the Macedonian version of the site is online. If you understand, can read or care about anything Macedonian, check it out. You can also access that part of the site at any time by clicking on the small Macedonian flag that is on the upper right corner of all pages in this site.
The Macedonian part of the site is not a straightforward translation of the English version, rather a completely standalone site that deals with issues relevant to Macedonia and Macedonians. Don't know anything about Macedonia? No biggie, head on over to this site to read up on it.

Comment forums finally functional
Wednesday, 4 December 2004

Well, a primitive forum has gone online on your favorite site (yes I am talking about this one). It is currently only available in the News section, but I will enable it for the Ideas&Rants section as well. Additionally, I plan on adding a separate menu item to access all the topics from the forum, including all the topics that spawn from news articles or ideas&rants.
The forum is rather primitive (in this version at least) and I am having some trouble with the formatting of the posts, but I will resolve it in the coming days. I am pushing really hard to get this site in an acceptable state before I move to the US for my new employment (there will be a news item about it soon) since I don't think I will have as much time to upkeep it as I have had recently.
So cmon, try out the comments functionality by clicking on the below link :)

Half life 2 demo to play while I finish the review
21 December 2004

While I am busy writing the HL2 review, the first official review to be posted on my site, try it yourself. They released a demo of the beginning few levels and the best level (har-har) Ravenholm. Yeah, that's going to make the doubters buy your game. By the way, just as an exclusive preview, my review is not soft on this game - it was a pretty big disappointment for me. So hop on over to the ATI site and download the demo to try it (its in excess of 700MB), and then come back to read the review. In the meantime, here is how other people have rated Half Life 2 - read that as well so you know why I am so pissed.

Crytek releases ATI tech demo
5 December 2004

Crytek, the company I used to work at, has released an ATI demo showcasing what the latest ATI cards and the next generation CryEngine can do. Read all about this on ATI's official site (http://www.ati.com/gitg/promotions/crytek/index.html), as well as some behind-the-scenes comments by Michael "Emil" Endres - art guy and martial artist. I saw the demo before I left in August and I have to tell you that it looked great even then - I haven't seen the final product yet (doubt my GeForce4Go can take the pain), but if its anything like I have seen, it will give you a whack on the head and show you how games in the future will look like.
What is really weird is that people are going - well, it's nothing I haven't seen before. What? What games are you playing? My in-depth analysis revealed that the people actually think this is a video and not a real time rendering. All I have to say is - press space (or whatever the button to stop playback and enter free roaming mode is) and check it out.
Good work, guys!

My personal site is back online
1 December 2004

My personal site is online- again. I made the original site design while still working in Sweden (in 2001) and I found it recently while rummaging through some old CD's. So, I decided to revamp it and get it back on line on kotevski.net. It's so convenient to have a personal site that you can show to people when you want to introduce yourself (and write stuff that no one will read), so I hope this one survives longer in this incarnation.

The site has a much more advanced backbone this time and is much easier to update then last time. So hopefully, I will update it more often (read: more than none!).

In the meantime, please browse the rest of the site. There is an article in the Ideas&Rants section that describes in detail the purpose of this site and what kinds of content you will be able to find here. Of course, me being an opinionated jerk - there is bound to be some juicy rant from time to time, whether it be related to the gaming industry or just something general.
